Many times in order to get the report you want, two
steps are needed:
1 - Create a report using eZ_Reports to get
the data out of PowerSchool.
2 - Use eZ_Tools (PostSort, Tabulate, ReSort,
and ReTabulate) to sort and manipulate the resulting data.
The process of using eZ_Tools can be automated so that a secretary without programming knowledge can run a report.
Suppose we want to get a report of incomplete grades sorted by teacher. We first create a report using eZ_Reports and upload it into PowerSchool. We run the report and save the resulting data. Finally run eZ_Tools in AutoRun mode.
Below is a set of instructions that could be given to the secretary so he/she could run the report.
1 - Select "Reports" from the PowerSchool Main Menu

2 - Select "Reporting Engine" from the Report screen.

3 - Select "Incomplete Grades" from the list of reports.

4 - At the bottom of the next screen, enter the term to print:
5 - When the report finishes, go to [File] ==> [Save As]

The report needs to be saved in the folder "H:\eZ_Reports\Reports". If the save dialog box does not start there, change to that folder. If you are already there, go to step 6.
Click on the "Save In" drop down box list arrow. Find your "H:\" drive - it begins with your logon name and ends with (H:). Click on it.

Double click on the "eZ_Reports" folder.

Double click on the "Reports" folder.

6 - Select the file "Incomplete_Grades_by_Teacher.htm" and click the "Save" button. Note that delimiter is an underscore not a space in the filename.

If you are going to run the "Incomplete_Grades", save the report with that name also.
7 - Next, start the "eZ_Tools" program.
Go to [Start] ==> [Programs] ==> [eZ_Reports] ==> [eZ_Tools]

or click on the "eZ_Tools" icon on the desktop.

8 - When "eZ_Tools" opens, click the "Browse" button.

9 - Click on the file "Incomplete_Grades.htm" and then the "Open" button.

10 - The Settings Filename box should be automatically filled in. If it doesn’t, there is a problem and your report will not print correctly.

An "AutoRun Sequence" listbox should also appear. This one indicates it will run the program "PostSort", the program "Tabulate", and then launch your report in the browser.

11 - Click the "Begin" button. The "PostSort" program will start to be followed by the "Tabulate" program.

12 - The final report should open in your browser so that you can print it.
